Recruitment-related crime is being targeted by a new alliance between National Trading Standards eCrime Team (NSeCT), SAFERjobs and the Metropolitan Police.
SAFERjobs - Safe Advice For Employment and Recruitment - is a non-profit making organisation created by the Metropolitan Police in 2008 to combat the criminal activity that can plague the recruitment market as well as offering free expert advice and raising public awareness of job scams.
NSeCT will work with SAFERjobs to share intelligence and take action against criminals and rogue traders who exploit vulnerable job seekers using social media, online advertising, classified job listings sites and job forums.
SAFERjobs works with government, public sector agencies and private sector companies to stamp out recruitment related crime. To do this it shares best practice, offers free expert advice, and raises awareness of job scams and fraudulent practice within the recruitment industry.
Keith Rosser, Chair of SAFERjobs said: “Job scams are on the rise, with many people looking for work via online job boards and social networking sites, it is becoming even more important the UK develops a robust response and offers free advice to job seekers. Developing a partnership with Trading Standards is an essential part of a combined response to the problem of fraudsters targeting job seekers.”
