An exciting new 10 screen cinema multiplex with five restaurants is set to open in South Yorkshire next year.
Entertainment chain Empire Cinemas has revealed details of the plans which are set to see the huge moviegoing complex open in 2017.
Empire, the largest independently owned cinema operator in the UK, has confirmed that the brand new multiplex will open in Barnsley late next year as part of the Alhambra Shopping Centre.

A spokesman for Empire Cinemas said, “We are delighted to be partnering with BMO Real Estate Partners to bring a multiplex cinema to the heart of Barnsley and we look forward to entertaining local film fans for many years to come."
In addition to the very latest film releases, Empire Cinemas will also be bringing Empire Extra to cinemagoers. The service offers screenings of big stage productions and events on the big screen, from the comfort of their local cinema – be it theatre, opera, ballet, music or sport.
A spokesman for BMO Real Estate Partners said: “We are thrilled that such a highly regarded national cinema operator will be coming to Barnsley and committed to substantially enhance and enlarge the Alhambra Shopping Centre.
"Upgrade and refurbishment work on the adjoining secure car park is also planned and expected to start on site in a matter of weeks. We also expect to announce similar commitments from much needed national restaurant operators to compliment the new cinema in the coming months.”
