A new-look Netto store has opened its doors in Doncaster this morning.
The 12,000 sq ft store, based at Thorne Road retail park, opened at 8am this morning and is one of the first stores to be launched as part of a trial over the next year in a joint venture between Sainsbury’s and Netto’s parent company, Dansk Supermarked.
The 25 new local employees have opened the doors today to a new, design based on the latest Netto stores in Denmark that ‘represent a complete departure from the format that left the UK market in 2010’.
The store has opened in time for Black Friday, with prices being slashed from today - a day earlier than most other retailers.
Frank Andersen, Netto Doncaster, Store Manager said; ”Black Friday begins here today with our great electrical Spot Deals. We have Amazon Kindles, Samsung Galaxy Tablets and Samsung TV screens and more for absolutely amazing price. I also strongly recommend our banana doughnuts that are only 25p.”
The store has an in-house bakery offering freshly baked Danish breads and traditional Danish pastries, including the Copenhagener (39p) – a almond and poppy seed pastry.
Fresh meat and produce will be delivered to the store every day.
All fresh meat will be British and Netto will offer seasonal British fruit and vegetables sourced at the highest quality for a great price.
New ranges have been specially created for the UK stores under own-label brands “Premieur” at the top end and “Easy” for everyday items, as well as established brands from Netto’s existing portfolio like “Asian Kitchen” and “Mex & Co”.
The store will also sell around 100 of the most popular brands and non-food products sourced from Denmark and around the world.
The range of over 2,000 products has been created especially for the UK, and will aim to give customers a new offer and challenge other stores in the discount sector.
Netto will also offer around 60 weekly “Spot Deals” on both food and non-food products.
Opening hours of the store will be Monday – Saturday from 8am to 9pm and Sunday from 10am to 4pm.
