A HIGH-FRYING chippy has battered its competition to land a prestigious award.

Oliver’s of Edenthorpe has joined the fish frying elite from across the UK following its Fish and Chip Quality award - making it the only shop in Doncaster to claim the gong.

The scheme is run through the trade body National Federation of Fish Friers (NFFF) to recognise shops raising the standards within the industry as well as enhancing its profile as a whole.

To qualify, each shop has to go through an inspection by an NFFF official who assesses the shop’s presentation, hygiene and cleanliness, staff training, equipment, frying and sales skills and most importantly the quality of the cooked product.

The award sets the new benchmark for quality within the industry, offer confidence to customers and in turn encourage more outlets to raise their standards.

Each quality award is valid for two years and retention is dependent on standards being maintained as validated by NFFF officials.

Oliver’s, based in Doncaster Road, a fully-licensed restaurant with seating for 50 people, car park, free wifi and disabled facilities.
