THREE mums who have never taken part in a competitive race before will pound the course of the Great North Run this month, to help their church.

Angela Teasdale, Sarah Maughan and Michelle Parker usually lead the Sing Out family singing group at St Michael’s Church, Rossington.

But on Sunday, September 18, they will be getting together at the run in Newcastle to raise money for the church.

Angela, aged 43, who set up Sing Out, said: “There is a real buzz in our church as the race approaches. We update our congregation each Sunday as to the trials and tribulations of our weekly training. We are the first to admit that the furthest we have run prior to this year is to the ice cream van as it leaves the end of the road!”

Sarah, 41, and Michelle, 37, were mothers of children in the group who, together with their families, have joined the congregation and are the two main helpers for Sing Out which has 28 children and 13 adults as members.
