WENTWORTH and Dearne MP John Healey has shown his support for increased internet safety for children.
The Labour politician made a visit to Lifewise, the South Yorkshire centre for Community Safety, to see an internet safety session which has been run at the facility.
More than 3, 700 sixth form students from across South Yorkshire have attended the session.
Mr Healey said: “Our children are our most valuable asset but we must be aware that they are also some of the most vulnerable members of society.
“Protecting our children against the fear of crime and from becoming victims of crime must be a priority.”
Superintendent Eddie Murphy said: “Exploring the internet can be fantastic, opening a world of possibilities for children, expanding their horizons and exposing them to different cultures and ways of life.
“However, it can also expose them to danger. There are people who try to sexually exploit children through the use of on-line services and the internet.”
