Rosie Winterton MP will visit The Point to see how the gallery has been transformed thanks to funding from the SITA Trust.

SITA provided funding for a new staircase between the ground floor and Mezzanine level, enhancing the visitor experience and making sense of the space. SITA also funded a bank of brand new floor to ceiling blinds, meaning that we have control of the lighting and are able to alter the space and create new ways to exhibit a far wider variety of art work, exhibits and installations.

During the visit, Rosie will come face to face with a portrait of herself by exhibiting artist Michelle Clarke-Stables as part of the ‘Brilliant Women – Snapshots of Familial Gazes’ exhibition on show from Monday 13 January – Saturday 8 March. Michelle will be on hand to discuss the exhibition with Rosie Winterton and explain how the paintings developed from being women who inspired her, to other people nominating their own inspiring women.

Helen Jones for The Point, says: ‘’The stairs and blinds have transformed the way we programme the Gallery space. We are now able to show more innovative artwork, film and installation. Audiences have responded very positively to the changes and are now viewing the Gallery as a whole rather than two separate spaces. We have had some great feedback from visitors who are eager to visit each upcoming exhibition.”
