DEARNE MP John Healey met pupils and teachers to hear about a project they are leading to improve their school.

The politician visited Our Lady and St Joseph’s School on Friday and spoke with young members of the school council.

He was shown their school garden in which pupils grow vegetables and sell to raise money for school funds.

The MP also heard about improvements made to facilities within school.

Mr Healey said: “I really enjoyed meeting the school council and hearing about their different roles and the good work they are involved in right through the school.

“We had a very interesting chat about the chickens they keep, the fundraising they do by growing and selling vegetables, the improvements they have helped come about in the school and plans for the new foundation class.”
