MP blasts ‘rip off’ call lines

DEARNE MP John Healey held a Parlimentary debate to expose the “rip-off rates” many people are having to pay to phone Government helplines.

The Labour politician claimed a Freedom of Information request revealed hundreds of thousands of callers each week give up on getting through after being kept on hold and charged. He is calling for the Government to switch to cheaper alternatives to 0845 numbers.
