The Motorpoint Arena re-opens today with over 8,000 hockey fans expected to pile in for one of the country’s most hotly contested ice hockey fixtures.
The Steelers v Nottingham game starts at 5pm in the Sheffield arena, which has had a multi-million pound face lift.
Fans will be able to enjoy the new arena, which has benefited from a new roof, new seats, new scratch resistant rink side glass, refurbished toilets and food and drink stands with new menus featuring locally produced fresh products.
The ice is ready with the sponsors logos being painted.
Arena general manager Rob O’Shea said: “The transformation of the building over the past eight weeks has been amazing. I am sure that customers will be impressed with the changes. We can’t wait to re-open and get on with what we do best; hosting world class entertainment in a world class arena.”
To celebrate the re-launch there will also be a food discount, with 50 per cent off food at the Steelers v Nottingham fixture today.
