Labour leader and Doncaster MP Ed Miliband gave his support to the annual Mile of Coins appeal organised by The Doncaster Cancer Detection Trust (DCDT).
An impressive mile of 2p coins were raised adding up to more than £1,200 for the appeal.
Doncaster North MP Ed Miliband said: “The people of Doncaster have always given very generously to the Doncaster Cancer Detection Trust’s Mile of Coins appeal, and I’m sure they will do so again this year.
“I’d like to thank Jeannette Fish, who founded the trust, for all her hard work, and Laurie Barton Wright – and the rest of the team at the Frenchgate Centre – for all the help and support they give to the trust’s fundraising efforts.”
Laurie Barton, Wright, centre manager said: “We are delighted that Mr Miliband took time out of his busy schedule to support this fantastic charity.
“The centre and its customers have supported this event and the Memory Tree campaign for a number of years and our shoppers have helped to raise thousands of pounds for the charity.”
The trust has been fundraising since 1973.
