A Doncaster based charity is holding a candle-lit midnight walk to raise money to help cancer patients.
Doncaster Cancer Detection Trust (DCDT) will stage the walk on Friday, October 25, gathering from 10.30pm at the Keepmoat Stadium, Lakeside, Doncaster, with a fancy dress competition at 11.30pm before setting off on the one-and-a-half mile walk around the lake at the Lakeside.
Walkers can take part in normal clothes, fancy dress or pyjamas and are invited to bring pet dogs along to join in too.
It costs £5 for an individual entry; £10 for a family entry and £10 for a corporate entry. All walkers are asked to raise sponsorship money for the DCDT.
Carol Spiller, of the DCDT, one of the organisers, said: “Please get a sponsorship form, ask family, friends and colleagues to support you, and head on the walk.
“All of the money raised will help people in Doncaster who have cancer.”
The DCDT spend money raised from fundraising events such as this to buy specialist equipment to help cancer patients and are currently also supporting the St John’s Hospice Development Appeal - which is raising £500,000 towards the £1.8 million redevelopment of the hospice.
Sponsorship forms are available via the hospice by emailing StJohnsHospiceAppeal@rdash.nhs.uk
