A MAN tricked a driver and passenger into getting out of their van to check their tyres before punching one in the face, then making off with their vehicle.
Detectives have just released details of the robbery which took place at about 8.30am on March 16.
The two men were driving along Leger Way when they got stuck in traffic between the Armthorpe Avenue and Leicester Avenue.
While they were stopped, a man approached the passenger window and told them they had a flat tyre.
Both men got out of the van at either side to examine the tyre. The pedestrian is then believed to have hit the van passenger twice causing swelling and bruising to his nose.
The man then got into the van, locked the doors and turned around, driving up Leger Way back towards Armthorpe roundabout.
The van was found later that morning abandoned on Conisbrough Road in Edenthorpe.
The man is described as white and between 20 to 25-years-old. He is approximately 5ft 8inches tall and of stocky build. He has ginger coloured hair that was spiked up in the middle. He was wearing a dark coloured hooded tracksuit.
Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have any information, are asked to call the police on 101, quoting incident number 197 of 16/03/2012.
