A 49-year-old man has died following a crash on the A1 in Nottinghamshire this morning.
The man was driving an Audi A5 on the southbound carriageway when the vehicle collided with the rear of a stationary parked HGV in a lay-by just south of the exit for Ranby at around 6.20am.
The Audi driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The female driver of the HGV was uninjured. No one else was involved in the collision.
The southbound A1 has been closed throughout the morning and early afternoon to allow the scene to be examined and the vehicles to be recovered.
