A SEMI-detached house has been badly damaged after it was set alight.

Fire crews were called to Newton Drive in Sprotbrough, at 2.30am on Sunday.

A fire service spokesman said the fire was “deliberate” and a man was taken to hospital with smoke inhalation and a cut to his hand.

She added that four fire engines were sent to the scene and the man was outside of the property when crews arrived.

The fire service could not comment on the cause of the fire.
