POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man was conned into shelling out £250 for a bag of potatoes.

CCTV images have been released of a man believed to have persuaded his 45-year-old victim to buy a bag that he thought contained a laptop, after they got chatting in a Doncaster supermarket.

The suspected fraudster had shown the man a working laptop in a blue laptop bag. But after the man agreed to get the cash, he was handed a blue laptop bag weighed down with potatoes.

Police would like to identify the man following the incident on April 21 at about 3.15pm at a Bawtry Road supermarket.
