A MAN has been arrested in connection with a serious car crash in the early hours of Easter Monday.
The driver of a Fiat 500, from Scawthorpe, aged 24, was arrested on suspicion of being over the drink driving limit, dangerous driving, taking without the owner’s consent, failing to stop, and driving while disqualified.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash, which left an 18-year-old woman with serious injuries.
The teenager was hurt in the collision at 3.30am which left Back Lane, Cusworth, closed for several hours while officers carried out their investigations.
Officers believe a red Toyota Aygo, driven by a 19-year-old man, was travelling along Back Lane, Cusworth, towards Cusworth village, when it collided head on with the Fiat, which was travelling along the same road in the opposite direction, towards Sprotbrough.
The 18-year-old woman, a passenger in the Toyota Aygo, was taken to Doncaster Royal Infirmary with serious injuries including fractured ribs, a broken leg, and suspected head and pelvic injuries.
The Toyota Aygo driver was not injured.
A 23-year-old man, a passenger in the Fiat 500, was also taken to hospital with suspected abdominal injuries.
Witnesses who saw either car or the crash call police on 101 quoting incident 192 of April 1, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
