A SERIES of organised walks around Swinton and Kilnhurst could be re-introduced as part of a scheme to help people stay healthy.
The Swinton and Kilnhurst Roundwalk and Swinton Heritage Trails were devised many years ago by local councillor Ken Wyatt, but have fallen into disuse of late.
However, Coun Wyatt said that organised walks around the two routes could soon return as part of a project with the British Heart Foundation.
He explained: “The British Heart Foundation have contacted the council about making Rotherham one of the nation’s ‘heart towns.’
“This would involve organising various projects in the borough aimed at keeping people healthy.
“Locally, we think re-activating the walks would be a great idea. Groundwork Dearne Valley have already been intouch about this and I would be up for doing some guided walks.”
He added the scheme could come into effect in the new year.
