Home-Start Doncaster was awarded £2871 by People’s Postcode Trust, a grant-giving charity, funded entirely by players of the People’s Postcode Lottery.
The organisation will use the money to recruit and run a training course for a team of new volunteers who will then be able to provide emotional and practical support to families with young children in Doncaster.
Julie Cade, Scheme Manager of Home-Start Doncaster said, “The three month project will recruit new volunteers in September who will undertake a 40-hour training course to become a Home-Start home-visiting volunteer. The project will also provide additional tailored training to the new and existing volunteers to enable them to assist the families to maximise their income. Volunteers will learn how to help families in financial need to access the money available to them through welfare benefits, tax credits and grants. Helping them to budget their income will have great benefits to the families”.
People’s Postcode Lottery is Britain’s charity lottery. Players play with their postcodes to win cash prizes while raising money for good causes. As a charity lottery, £2 from every monthly lottery ticket is donated to charities and community initiatives across England, Scotland and Wales, including the People’s Postcode Trust. People’s Postcode Lottery believes in supporting local communities so the money raised by players in each country, stays in that country.
