While Christmas may be weeks away, Royal Mail is reminding people in the region to make a note of the last recommended posting dates for the festive season now.

One thing that can’t be left until the last minute is getting your Christmas presents and cards in the post.

Make a note of these last posting dates to ensure you don’t get caught out this year.

To beat the Christmas rush, Royal Mail recommends posting before these dates:

*UK inland services:

- Thursday, December 18 - Second class and Royal Mail Signed For

- Saturday, December 20 - First Class and Royal Mail Signed For

- Tuesday, December 23 - Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed

*International Standard (formerly Airmail) and all International Tracking and Signature Services (formerly Airsure and International Signed For)

- Wednesday, December 3 - Asia, Far East (including Japan), New Zealand

- Thursday, December 4 - Australia

- Friday, December 5 - Africa, Caribbean, Central and South America, Middle East

- Monday, December 8 - Cyprus, Eastern Europe, Greece

- Tuesday, December 9 - Canada, Poland

- Friday, December 12 - USA

- Saturday, December 13 - Western Europe (excluding Greece, Poland)

- International Standard HM Forces Mail - British Forces Post Office (BFPO)

- Friday, November 28 - Operational BFPOs

- Friday, December 12 - Static BFPOs

Royal Mail Christmas Delivery Dates:

- December 22 - 24 - Normal deliveries

- Christmas Day and Boxing Day - No deliveries

- December 27 - Normal deliveries

- December 28 - No deliveries

- December 29 - 31 - Normal deliveries

- New Year’s Day - No deliveries

January 2 - Normal deliveries (excluding Scotland)

January 3 onwards - Normal deliveries
