ENTRIES are still pouring in for our fabulous Name The Square competition - but time is running out to take part.
Dozens of great names have been sent to the Free Press offices over the last few weeks for the square which will form the centrepiece of the new Civic and Cultural Quarter.
The face of the town is rapidly changing thanks to the £300 million development in Waterdale – and now one lucky local can have their say in the future of the project – for we want you to come up with a name for the new central square.
The square will be finished at the end of March but before then we want YOU to name it. Perhaps you might want to look to the town’s rich railway heritage for inspiration or incorporate Doncaster’s Roman history into the name or maybe Doncaster’s racing or sporting links or famous townsfolk could help you.
All you have to do is fill in the coupon in the December 29 edition of the Doncaster Free Press and then send it to: Name The Square Competition, Editorial Department, Doncaster Free Press, Sunny Bar, Doncaster, DN1 1NB by no later than January 5, 2012.
A judging panel including Doncaster Free Press editor in chief Graeme Huston and Mayor of Doncaster Peter Davies will draw up a shortlist from the submitted entries with the top rated names being put to a public vote in late January.
