PRIMARY school kids in Mexborough showed some creative flair this week by holding their own art exhibition.

Youngsters aged between four and 11 at Highwoods Primary School created a range of brightly coloured paintings and tie-dye works.

They were helped by staff from the Images art company, who provided materials and framed their artworks.

Pupils proudly displayed their creations at a school exhibition attended by parents on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Visitors were hugely impressed as more than 40 orders were placed to buy the artworks.

Teacher Sheila Thompson, who helped organise the event, said: “The artworks are fantastic and everyone at the exhibition said how good they are.

“There was a wide variety of paintings, from rainforest scenes to animals and insects.

“It gives the pupils a lasting thing to take away with them when they leave school.”
