This September, fans of the hit blockbuster movie Billy Elliot will be able to see the stage show live from the West End thanks to Goole Junction’s special programme of live cinema screenings.
Set in the North East of England during the miners’ strike of 1984/85, the multi-award winning production tells the story of on eleven-year-old boy’s struggle to be accepted as a professional ballet dancer. With music from Elton John.
Adapted for the stage by Lee Hall and Stephen Daldry, with choreography by Peter Darling, Billy Elliot became an instant West End hit, winning four Olivier awards in 2006, and scooping ten Tony awards on Broadway.
Tickets are selling fast for both the live screening on September 28 and the encore performance on October 4, but the venue is warning parents that the production may not be suitable for those aged under ten and as such has been issued a 12A guidance note.
However, parents are urged to use their own discretion and those who still have concerns are advised to visit https://www.commonsensemedia.org/movie-reviews/billy-elliot/user-reviews/adult for the first-hand experience of other parents.
Tickets are £10 each or £32 for a family of four. Call the Box Office on 01405 763652 or visit www.junctiongoole.co.uk
