It's a weight off his mind!

AN ATHELSTANE pupil has become a shadow of his former self after losing nearly four stone in just over a year!

And 15-year-old Ashley DeVille has said his weight loss wonder is down to playing lots of sport and being encouraged by teachers, friends and family.

Ashley, who stands 6ft 2in, said: "I did it by going on bike rides and playing lots of sport. I don't eat as much chocolate and sweets anymore and I have more things cooked in the oven instead of the microwave. My family's proud and give me lots of support."

Ashley has become the school's penalty shot-stopping king after helping the Athelstane team towards their latest win at a football tournament held at Rossington Hall.

PE co-ordinator John Wallbank said: "He has become a regular in school sports such as badminton, becoming the school goalkeeper, as well as taking part in regional athletics, cricket and after-school sports clubs.

"He has had lots of support from home and is delighted with his efforts and results. He's a lot happier and has a lot more confidence now.
