A pair of intrepid walkers are going to great lengths by attempting to walk an 84 mile coast-to-coast challenge in just one go.

Steve Moss and Craig Le Masurier are tackling the gruelling Hadrian’s Wall path non-stop in aid of Doncaster-based charity The Eve Merton Dreams Trust.

The pair started in the early hours of this morning, and the duo, both aged 32, will trek from Bowness-on-Solway to Wallsend, hoping to complete the route in 30 hours. The majority of walkers take four to six days.

Although both have run marathons, this is the first time they have tackled anything on this scale and will have nothing more than a handful of 10 minute breaks to change socks and eat.

Steve, of Wheatley, who works at Polypipe in Kirk Sandall, said ahead of the walk: “I am starting to get nervous, but we are both pretty stubborn and I’m sure if I start to have doubts Craig will drag me through it and vice versa.”

Craig, of Balby and a fireman at Doncaster, added: “We are finishing it, it’s as simple as that, however we manage it and as painful as it may be both physically and mentally.”
