Internet retail giant Amazon has dug deep to help a Doncaster school.
The firm has donated £500 to Auckley School’s pond regeneration project.
The school will use the money to help towards the cost of excavation, site preparation, lining, planting and naturalising of the pond back to its former condition.
Amazon associates, Sally Greenley and Stuart Worthington from Amazon’s fulfilment centre in Balby, Doncaster visited the staff and pupils at the school to find out more about the work which needs to be done.
When completed, the pond will play a significant part the pupils learning and development in nature studies. The school is continuing to fund raise to generate the money to cover the cost of the project which is expected to be £2,500.
“With the new extension and the woods, we have fantastic facilities here. The value of outdoor learning can’t be under estimated and the children are really looking forward to using the pond again and no doubt the frogs that visited earlier in the year will be pleased too!” said Head Teacher, Jill Marshall.
