ED Miliband has defended his appearance at a football match after saying he was too ill to go to an NHS rally the same day.
The Doncaster North MP cancelled the night before he was due to speak at a protest against health reforms in Hull at noon on Saturday.
He was then spotted at 3pm on Saturday in the chairman’s suite of the KC Stadium watching Hull City versus Ipswich Town.
A spokesman for the Labour leader said: “Mr Miliband was not well on Friday morning so said he wasn’t going to be at the rally, which was then cancelled.
“He carried out his constituency surgeries on Saturday morning, then kept a long-standing engagement.”
