TEMPERATURES have plummeted and all Isle folk, particularly motorists, are asked to take special care on the region’s icy roads and walkways.
With more snow forecast at the end of the week, and no sign yet of rising temperatures, local service teams are working hard to lessen the effects of the continuing cold snap.
A North Lincolnshire Council spokesman said, “The current cold spell is predicted to continue. Gritting teams have been working around the clock to keep the highways open.
“We have used snow ploughs in some areas and tractor drivers have helped us to replenish stocks of salt. Our thanks go to them.
“Rural teams have been deployed to keep our market towns moving and have been working in Crowle and Epworth market place, helping to keep our businesses trading.
“We would ask residents to take care in these adverse weather conditions, only driving if essential and allowing extra time for journeys. Please also
think about any vulnerable neighbours and assist them where possible.”
