Raymond Wild, 51, has been charged in connection with the murder of his wife, Sheila Wild, who was found dead at a Doncaster farmhouse earlier this week.
A post-mortem examination found that she died from strangulation.
Police discovered the body of Mrs Wild, aged 49, when they broke into her isolated home on Thorne Road, Blaxton, after her family raised concerns about her welfare.
Mr Wild is due to appear at Doncaster Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Monday, March 3).
Mrs Wild was ‘always bubbly and smiling’ according to a friend.
The couple were customers of the Spar shop in Auckley and one of the owners, Sharon Bhdaal, said: “They were nice people who we have known for about 10 years, when my husband worked for BT and went to see them about putting a phone line in.
“They started shopping here and our staff got to know them quite well. We found out on Thursday morning when our paper boy went to deliver their paper and couldn’t get in because of the police cordon.”
Mrs Bhdaal described Mrs Wild, a pig breeder, as ‘always bubbly and smiling’.
“If you were feeling a bit down she would cheer you up. We can’t imagine her not coming in again. Me and my staff are in shock.”
