FIREFIGHTERS rescued a pregnant horse after it fell into a seven foot deep cess pit in Doncaster.
Crews used lifting gear to winch the 11-year-old animal to safety after it fell through a concrete cover into the trench at Hawkehouse Green Lane, Moss.
A vet sedated the Shire horse, Izzy, for its own safety as crews freed it. It is believed the unharmed horse was in the cess pit all night.
Owner Linda Curtis said: “I can’t praise enough the officers and crews who attended. They did an absolutely brilliant job and are a credit to the county.”
