A GREAT-grandmother was treated to two birthday bashes to celebrate reaching the remarkable age of 103.

Hilda Thorneycroft celebrated with four generations of family, and then again with staff and friends at the Headingley Park Care Home in Edlington.

The former sweet factory worker was treated to chocolates, flowers and a specially designed ‘Hilda’ birthday cake.

Her son, Keith, of Warmsworth said: “We couldn’t have wished for a better day. My mum had a fantastic time”

Hilda is the last of her siblings, with her sister Annie also living to the ripe old age of 99.

The Warmsworth local, is now a resident at Headingley Park but lived by herself right until she was 100, and only moved to the care home after breaking her leg in a fall.

The much-loved great-gran enjoys nothing better than watching TV and having a good old fashioned chin-wag with staff.
