A NEW scheme to support older people and allow them to remain in their own home longer has been launched in Doncaster.
The new befriending scheme for people over the age of 65 who have become or are at risk of becoming socially isolated has been set up by charity Sue Ryder.
Denise Robinson, service manager at Sue Ryder, said: ”The main aim of this service is to support vulnerable people who may live alone or have few friends or family living locally.
“The service aims to reduce the risk of social isolation and support older people to maintain their independence.”
The service will support people through one to one home visits, telephone calls or a combination of both.
