Residents were given advice about the benefits of being a carer during an information roadshow in Mexborough High Street.

Carers were on hand to advise people who look after a loved one that they may be entitled to financial help.

Councillor Pat Knight, cabinet member for Hehlth and adult social care at Doncaster Council, said; “We know we have tens of thousands of carers in Doncaster providing essential support to their loved ones and we want to ensure they can get the help they need to continue.

“Often carers simply don’t realise that they are doing anything out of the ordinary and so don’t ask for the support that is available to help them.”

The event was held to help celebrate national Carers Week in June.
