Doncaster-based pharmacy group Weldricks has opened its town centre pharmacy on Hallgate.

The official opening was attended by Civic Mayor Coun Eddie Dobbs.

During the visit, those attending received a demonstration of an innovative new “available around the clock” Auto Vend Prescription Service.

The service enables customers to conveniently and securely drop off their prescriptions at the pharmacy and when they receive a code number by text message collect their dispensed NHS prescription medication at any time to suit them.

Those patients on monthly repeat prescriptions from any GP in the region sign up for the Auto Vend service once and let Weldricks complete the whole process every month, from collecting their prescription from the surgery to advising when the dispensed medicines are in the vendor and available for the patient to collect.

In addition to the prescription service, the Auto Vend also offers a range of basic, essential over the counter medicines available for immediate purchase.

Coun Dobbs said: “The Prescription Auto Vend is a great idea and it was really simple to use. It’s not always easy to get to the pharmacy during opening hours, particularly if you are rushing to work. Having the option to drop off prescriptions and collect medicines even when the pharmacy is closed will be really convenient.”
