A GROUP of health workers, service users and volunteers attended an event at the Solar Centre at St Catherine’s, Doncaster, aimed at making learning Makaton sign language more fun.

The students, made up of learning disability service users from Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Trust community homes, were taught Makaton while being entertained by the team, who dressed up in hula skirts to create a holiday feel.

The team provided amusement with bubbles, juggling, hula hoops, and engaged the service users in ball games, with ice cream, tea and lemonade during a break in the activities.

Prizes and certificates were awarded and the session ended with singing and signing Cliff Richard’s Summer Holiday, using signs learned.
