Hundreds of smokers in Rotherham are expected to make a New Year’s resolution to quit.

Health bosses say they are four times more likely to succeed with the help of their local stop smoking service.

New Year quitters are being urged to seek help from Rotherham NHS Stop Smoking Service which offers free nicotine patches and other treatments.

The service has teamed up with DC Leisure to give quitters free seven-day leisure centre passes for those who give up for four weeks or more, starting in January.

Simon Lister, manager of Rotherham NHS Stop Smoking Service, said: “New Year is a time when many of us make resolutions around getting fitter and healthier and stopping smoking is the single greatest influence you can have on your health.”
