ONLY seven patients with suspected breast cancer had to wait longer than two weeks to see a specialist doctor through Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals Trust, according to the latest figures.

Of the 566 suspected breast cancer patients, 559 were seen by a specialist within 14 days, and every new patient who thought they may have breast cancer were seen within a month between January and March this year.

The trust has performed well at hitting two week national targets over the three month period seeing 94 per cent of patients thought to have cancer. Everyone with suspected children’s or blood cancer and sarcoma tissue tumours were assessed in a fortnight or less, and all other suspected cancers also bettwe than the national average.
