A NEW chief executive is preparing to take up his post at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Ron Calvert will take up the appointment on September 1 succeeding former boss Nigel Clifton, who died in August last year, and interim chief executive, Peter Reading.

Mr Calvert is currently chief executive at Trafford Healthcare NHS Trust.

Commenting on his appointment, he said: “I am delighted to be joining Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals Foundation Trust as chief executive.

“These are challenging times across the NHS, but I am confident that I will be well supported by the workforce at DBH so that we can build upon the good work which has already been established at the trust.”

Former achievements Mr Calvert can lay claim to include winning the Dr Foster ‘Medium Sized Hospital of the Year’ award in 2009 and eliminating MRSA after Trafford recorded no cases of blood-borne infections in the last two years.
