Health chiefs in South Yorkshire are encouraging residents to make sure they are vaccinated against flu to keep cases low during the rest of winter.

The flu jab is offered free of charge to individuals who have a higher risk of developing complications if they develop the illness, such as people aged over 65, pregnant women and patients with long-term health problems.

Fiona Jorden, vaccination and immunisation lead for NHS England South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw said: “Just because the end of winter is in sight that doesn’t mean the threat of flu is over.
