Health bodies in Doncaster are the fifth best in the country for providing care for patients with Type 2 diabetes, figures have revealed.
National Diabetes Audit ranked the health community in the town as the fifth best in the country out of 151 clinical commissioning groups.
The survey revealed 67.1 per cent of the 17,500 residents across Doncaster who have the condition received nine key health checks.
Delivery of all nine care checks is a joint collaboration between GPs, Doncaster Clinical Commissioning Group, and the health trust that runs Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals. The care checks, recommended by the National Institute of Health and Clinical Excellence (NIHCA), include eye screening, foot examinations, blood pressure and checks on cholesterol and blood glucose.
