MORE than 36,000 women have been screened for breast cancer in Doncaster over a two year period.

According to the latest figures from the Department of Health, 79.9 per cent of women aged from 53 to 64 had undergone a routine breast screening in the 12-months up to March 2011.

Despite this being a slight drop from the previous year’s 80.3 per cent of women screened, the overall number of people getting checked actually rose by more than 375 people.

The figures cover the number of people who have had a cancer screening check within the Government’s recommended three year period.
