Plans to build a skate park on Haxey playing field have been welcomed by an Axholme councillor.
The planning application for the skate park was submitted to North Lincolnshire Council last week, which detailed plans to erect a 18-metre long steel ramp on the playing fields on Haxey Lane.
Axholme South councillor, William Eckhardt, of the Nooking in Haxey, said a skate park was something several constituents had asked him about, and said he thought Haxey Lane was the ‘best possible’ location for a skate ramp in the area.
Coun Eckhardt said: “It will be something that benefits young people in the area. People play cricket on Haxey playing field in the summer, but a skate ramp would give young people something to do all year round.
He added: “We keep being asked if it’s something we can provide, so I’m glad to see something is finally being done about it.”
Public comments on the plans are welcomed until December 6.
A spokesperson for North Lincolnshire Council said: “We have received a planning application to install a skate ramp at Haxey Playing Field. This application is currently under consideration.”
