A GROUP supporting people with substance abuse issues has won an award for its green fingered skills.
Doncaster substance misuse service users have been named joint winners of the Riverside English Churches Housing Group northern hub Best Kept Garden 2012, in the category of Best Supported Communal Garden.
The centre, which is based at New Beginnings in Balby, is run by Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust, with service users awarded a certificate and £50 of DIY vouchers for the garden.
Andrea Parkinson, team leader at New Beginnings, said: ”This originally began as a project to get all the New Beginnings clients involved in making the garden area a more relaxed and pleasant environment for them to enjoy and use for group sessions outside.
“Everyone worked hard and was passionate about putting New Beginnings on the map.”
