Bingo, dancing, a raffle and plenty of tea helped with a successful event at Highfield Day Centre in Goldthorpe.

Organised by the Goldthorpe Development Trust, this was just one of numerous events that the band of volunteers have thought up to bring the community closer together.

John Hays told the South Yorkshire Times: “It was a great success, and everyone enjoyed it. In fact it was absolutely fantastic.”

He said such was the success of the tea dance that it is hoped more will be held in the future.

Other events lined up include a knees up at the Union Jack Club on September 21 between 7pm-midnight to mark the group’s 1st anniversary, and a Hallowe’en party on October 31 at Dearne ALC School.
