Girl, 13, injured in hit and run outside Sainsbury’s Edenthorpe

Sainsbury's petrol filling station, Edenthorpe.

A TEENAGE girl was injured after she was the victim of an alleged hit and run incident.

The youngster suffered head injuries after being hit by a car on one of Doncaster’s busiest roads.

But the driver of the black Vauxhall Corsa failed to stop and South Yorkshire Police officers are now appealing for information.

The 13-year-old had just stepped off a bus on Thorne Road near the Clay Lane Estate and was walking towards Sainsbury’s supermarket when the Corsa, travelling towards Doncaster, approached.

Police say the vehicle lost control on the roundabout at the entrance to the supermarket and side of the Corsa, possibly the wing mirror, is believed to have clipped the girl, causing her to fall to the ground and hit her head.

The girl sustained concussion as well as bruising and grazes and was taken to Doncaster Royal Infirmary following the incident at around 7.50am on October 15 which happened near to the supermarket’s petrol station.

The Corsa has rear, black tinted windows and bright headlights, which possibly have a blue tint.

The driver of the car and the passenger are both believed to be white, in their early 20s and were wearing hooded tops.

Any witnesses or anyone with information should call the police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111, quoting incident number 159 of 15/10/12.
