SPIRITS were high at the Dearne ALC when a team of actors helped bring lessons to life with a Dickens classic.

Cast members and directors from the Sheffield Teachers’ Operatic Society, who will perform A Christmas Carol at Sheffield’s Lyceum Theatre next month, joined Y7 pupils at the Dearne ALC to explore the story’s theme and its famous characters.

Free workshops were given in partnership with the charity Teach First, that aims to give pupils in low income communities the chance to try exciting study experiences with visiting teachers. The young scrooges are also to see the full production at the Lyceum.
