A NEWLY-furbished gallery has opened its doors for the first time to students and the public in a Doncaster village.

The White Gallery, based in the historic Old Hall at University Centre Doncaster’s High Melton campus, has been unveiled with an exhibition by artist Madeline Pick the main attraction.

Madeline, a former fine art and crafts University Centre student, has entitled her display ‘The Long Way’ and depicts an unconventional journey she took to become an artist at the age of 54 following an initial career in teaching.

The gallery will showcase the creative work of the students and alumni as well as lecturers and associates covering disciplines including painting, photography and sculpture.

The Long Way exhibition continues until January 25 and is open from 10am until 4pm on weekdays.
