Doncaster council workmen try to secure the roof at Doncaster school for girls, due to worries that the wind may lead to debris falling.

Council workmen have been called out to the former Doncaster High School for Girls, due to fears that the windy weather could lead to debris falling off the roof.

Work started on the roof at approximately 1pm, with part of the street at the corner of Chequer Road blocked off while work takes place.

A Doncaster Council spokesperson said: “Workmen are currently removing bits of debris that have settled on the roof of the former girls’ school to reduce any risk of them being blown off the roof should there be any strong winds.

“Work on demolishing the school is set to start in May 2014, with completion around the end of July, beginning of August.”
