Staff at branches of the Yorkshire Building Society have pledged to raise money to help the Verrico family.

The Yorkshire’s Doncaster and Gainsborough branches are hosting a range of fundraising activities and Doncaster’s customer consultant Rhys Fowler will do a sponsored sky dive with friends.

“We were devastated to hear the sad news about Anna’s passing and our community is rallying round to support her family as best we can. When I heard their story I wanted to do something to help,” said Rhys.

“We’re going out of our comfort zones to about 10,000 feet high to raise as much money as we can. I can’t deny I’m nervous but it’s in aid of a brilliant cause.”

Activities this week have included a raffle, bake sale, guess the weight of the cupcake and a sponsored slim.

James Paynter, manager of the Doncaster branch, said: “We’re looking forward to trying to raise a serious amount of money that will directly benefit Anna’s family.

“I hope members of the public will pop into our branch to show their support.”

Rhys Fowler will join Chris McCormick, Samuel Oliver, Oliver Adams, and Mitchell Russon in a sponsored sky dive on December 13. Anyone wishing to sponsor them can do so in the Doncaster’s Yorkshire Building Society branch.
