It was ice cream cones and activities galore at a charity garden party which raised more than £1,000 for a special care baby unit.

Parents and youngsters piled in to the second annual Baby Bunnies Garden Party at Doncaster’s Deaf College to support the Sheffield Hospitals Charity.

Organisers and visitors helped to raise £1,023 at the event, which will go towards helping premature and sick babies at the Jessop Wing’s neonatal unit.

From face painting to family games and even an appearance from Peppa Pig, it was fun for all the family at the packed event.

Organiser Nichola Caughey said: “It was an amazing day. Thank you so much to everyone who came and supported the event.”

A spokesman for Sheffield Hospitals Charity and the neonatal unit said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to everybody who took part in this year’s fantastic garden party.

“You all did an amazing job in raising over £1,000, which will go towards helping premature babies or babies who become ill.”

This was the second garden party organised by Baby Bunnies, a group offering a range of classes from baby yoga to bouncing buggies.

The organisation, set up by mum-of-two Nichola, has just celebrated its first birthday and things are going from strength to strength.

The latest activities added to Nichola’s business include baby shower events and baby-led weaning sessions, which are already getting booked up in advance and are a first in the Doncaster area.

Keen to see children embrace the St Leger Festival spirit, Nichola has also organised a horse-themed party and afternoon tea.

The Baby Bunnies St Leger Party, featuring horse games and afternoon tea, will take place tomorrow and Sunday. To book a place or for more information contact Nichola on 07748 668634, email nichola@babybunnies.co.uk, visit www.babybunnies.co.uk or search Baby Bunnies Doncaster on Facebook.
